HB2385 is scheduled for a hearing in the Arizona House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Urge your legislators to vote YES TODAY!
Feel free to use the message template provided, or share your own story and why the Double Up program is important to you and your community.
What the bill does: HB2385 appropriates $5,000,000 annually from the state General Fund to the Department of Economic Security for a produce incentive program, which currently operates under Double Up Food Bucks Arizona. Through this program, for every dollar spent on SNAP-eligible foods at participating farmers markets, farm stands, mobile markets and grocery stores, recipients receive an extra dollar to spend on Arizona-grown produce.
Double Up Arizona is a WIN-WIN-WIN.
While one-time appropriations and emergency funding have helped keep Double Up Food Bucks Arizona running, a multi-year appropriation—like the one proposed in HB2385—is essential to maintaining existing sites, ensuring program stability, and expanding access to underserved areas. However, a recent amendment proposes reducing the funding to a one-time, $1 million allocation. This reduction would force program closures and limit access to critical matching federal funds that have sustained the program since 2016.
Please take Action TODAY and urge members of the House Appropriations Committee to vote YES on the original version of the bill and fully fund the Double Up Food Bucks program.
Thank you for taking the time to tell our legislators why this program is important!
